Getting There & First Impressions

I came straight from the city for an evening flight. The hotel is located in the Aeroplaza building, which connects directly to Kansai International Airport. Check-in was fast with no waiting around.

The lobby has that typical Japanese business hotel efficiency. Clean, professional, no fuss. Everything about the arrival process was designed to get you to your room quickly.

The Economy Twin Room

I stayed in an Economy Twin room. By Japanese standards, the size was generous for this room category. Two single beds with enough space to move around and open luggage without climbing over things.

The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Soundproofing was solid. No aircraft noise despite being right at the airport. This is probably the most important thing for an airport hotel, and they got it right.

The view was nothing special. My room overlooked the car park. But for an airport hotel where you’re mainly there to sleep and catch a flight, this didn’t really matter.

Room note: If you’re a light sleeper worried about aircraft noise, don’t be. The soundproofing here is excellent. I didn’t hear a single plane during my stay.

Getting Around the Property

The hotel sits inside the Aeroplaza building. Everything is connected and compact. The airport terminal, restaurants, and convenience store are all accessible without going outside.

Check-out was equally efficient. They have machines, so there’s no queue at the front desk. Dropped the room key, grabbed a receipt, done.

Bag storage tip: The hotel offers free bag storage after check-out. If you have a late flight, this lets you explore Rinku Town without dragging luggage around. I used this to visit the nearby outlet mall and fish market before my evening departure.

Facilities

The Aeroplaza building has several restaurants and a convenience store. The convenience store is useful for grabbing snacks or a quick breakfast without going far.

Nearby is Rinku Town, with an outlet mall and fish market area. If you have time before your flight, it’s worth a visit.

Dining

I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant the morning before checking out. The spread was decent for an airport hotel, with a mix of Japanese and Western options.

There’s also a convenience store in the Aeroplaza building for snacks and quick bites. Several other dining options are available within the building if you want more variety.

WiFi & Staying Connected

WiFi was adequate. Fast enough for general browsing and checking emails. I didn’t test it for heavy downloads or video calls, but for typical travel needs it worked fine.

Recommended

Hotel Nikko does exactly what an airport hotel should do. The room is comfortable, the soundproofing works, and the location saves you stress before an early flight. The free bag storage is the standout feature if you have time to kill before departure. Yes, it’s pricey. But that’s the cost of convenience when you’re catching a flight from Kansai.
